Waves, Tides & Currents
Harness the Power of the Ocean!
Service Description
The sea is always moving. Understanding that movement can make a big difference in how you plan and experience a dive. The SSI Waves, Tides & Currents specialty helps you understand the forces that shape the water around you and how to take them into account when planning your dives. At Red Sea Marine Diving Center in Sharm El Sheikh, you'll learn how waves, tides, surface conditions, and underwater currents can affect a dive. Your SSI instructor will explain how to recognize changing conditions, understand current direction and strength, and make better decisions before and during a dive. You'll explore how currents influence your entry, descent, underwater route, buoyancy, air consumption, communication, and exit. You'll also learn practical techniques for working with the water rather than unnecessarily fighting against it. Understanding conditions is especially valuable when diving different sites around Sharm El Sheikh. Some dives may be calm and sheltered, while others can involve stronger water movement or changing surface conditions. Knowing what to look for helps you prepare properly and make sensible decisions based on the conditions of the day. The course combines knowledge with practical diving, allowing you to observe water movement and apply what you've learned in real diving situations. Your instructor will help you develop better awareness of the environment and understand when conditions are suitable for your experience and when a dive plan needs to be adjusted. At Red Sea Marine, we believe good diving isn't just about knowing your equipment and underwater skills. It's also about understanding the environment you're diving in and respecting what the sea is telling you. Whether you're preparing for more challenging dive sites, want to understand currents better, or simply want to become a more knowledgeable diver, SSI Waves, Tides & Currents is a valuable addition to your diving experience. Learn to read the water, understand its movement, and make smarter decisions before you dive.
